Compulsive or intrusive thoughts and actions can often get in the way of us functioning in our day to day living.  My work helps you understand what is behind those compulsive thoughts, what feelings might be being avoided, how these actions may actually be detrimental to our wellbeing, and helping you find other ways of expressing what is underneath those compulsions.

With addictions though, often our early life attachments for example, have left us bereft in some way. We have needed to use substances, be they drink, drugs or anything else, in order to alleviate the underlying suffering that our inner children have endured.  With addictions, I often work alongside 12 Step Programmes or with people who have been to residential services, which can help with and hold the addiction while I work with the part of you that feels lost, bereft and sad underneath that.
